Josie Grayson BSc Econ (Hons) CERT ED FE CIPD (Grad) is the creator and Director of StudentMidwife.NET; the world’s busiest and most successful education based online midwifery community in the world. She has a long and established career in HR, employment law and development. She has held Senior HR roles within two Universities & other public sector organisations as well as HR & Employment Law Consultant posts providing guidance, support and training for health care providers, blue chip companies and charities. Josie is also a midwifery career expert panel member for the Guardian.
She has been fully CIPD qualified since 1998 and has worked within the field of midwifery since 2005. She has studied midwifery at degree level and has been a member of midwifery course boards and midwifery course open day panels. She has extensive application and interview experience having specialised in recruitment, selection, talent management and employment law.
She has provided professional guidance and support to thousands of successful student midwives and midwives and has written a series of SMNET key midwifery e-learning materials.
Josie founded StudentMidwife.NET back in 2007 when she was studying Midwifery as she felt there was a lack of online professional support for student midwives and midwives. Over the last 3 years Josie has watched many seriously passionate, talented and knowledgeable advocates for midwifery fail to gain places at University. This is often due to fierce competition for University places coupled with interview nerves, rambling, interview dread and mental blocks which people can suffer from almost unknowingly in difficult situations. It was a natural next step for Josie to help the most serious of applicants overcome these obstacles and also gain important knowledge as well as feedback from a mock interview day.
SMNET's first training day 'pilot' at Cardiff University resulted in all delegates gaining a place at a University - The SMNET Edge was born.
